Upcoming 2025 Holiday Photo Specials
If you’ve landed here, you might be wondering what exactly birth photography is and whether it’s right for you. Maybe you’ve seen a few powerful images online, or maybe a friend mentioned it, and now you’re curious: What does it actually look like to have a birth photographer in the room?
As a birth photographer serving Cypress, Tomball, The Woodlands, and surrounding areas since 2019, my goal is to demystify the process and give you a real look at what birth photography entails—so you can decide if it’s something you’d like to have as part of your story.
Birth photography isn’t about perfectly posed pictures. It’s about documenting your story as it unfolds naturally- the quiet moments, the anticipation, the strength, and the joy of meeting your baby for the very first time.
Think of it like wedding photography, but for one of the most important days of your life: the day your family grows. These photos tell the story you’ll look back on for decades, and they preserve the details you might not even notice in the moment.
Every birth looks different, and that’s the beauty of it. Some moments are powerful and raw, others are soft and tender. My role is to preserve those emotions with respect, sensitivity, and artistry- so when you look back, you can truly feel the story of your baby’s arrival.
Here’s a glimpse of what birth photography usually looks like:
On-Call Support – Once you book, I am on call around your due date. That means day or night, when labor begins, I’m ready to come to you.
Arrival in Active Labor – I usually join you once you’re in active labor (about 5–6 cm or when contractions are consistently strong). This ensures your story is told without overwhelming you with my presence too early.
Discreet, Respectful Presence – I blend into the background, documenting moments as they happen. I’m not there to direct or stage anything. I capture things as they unfold.
Key Moments Captured – This often includes the intensity of labor, your support system (partner, doula, care team), the moment of birth itself, and those sacred first hours: skin-to-skin, first feedings, siblings meeting the baby, bonding time, newborn exams, etc.
A Gentle Approach – Whether your birth is in a hospital, birth center, or at home, I respect your space, your care providers, and your preferences. My presence is supportive, never intrusive.
To remember the strength they carried through labor.
To see the love and support from their partner in a way they couldn’t while in the moment.
To capture firsts: the first cry, the first touch, the first time you see your baby’s face.
To share their story with loved ones, or simply to hold onto it privately as a sacred memory.
Many parents tell me later, “I didn’t even realize you were there for some of these moments, but I’m so grateful you captured them.”
Birth photography isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. Some parents prefer to keep the space very private. But if you’re someone who values memories, storytelling, and the power of photography to preserve life’s biggest moments, then birth photography might be one of the best gifts you can give yourself and your family.
It’s about having your story honored and remembered in all its rawness, beauty, and love.
If you’re considering birth photography in Houston, Tomball, or The Woodlands and want to chat about what it could look like for your birth, I’d love to connect with you. Let’s talk about your hopes, your birth plan, and how I can respectfully document this incredible day in your family’s story.
